Here's what I came up with as I looked back over the year. 2018 was a year of ups and downs for me. The biggest up in my life was my Granddaughter being born. She's amazing. Though they live far away and we won’t get to see her much the entire family is always in my thoughts. Some of the other ups were going on a trip to Florida, and attending a conference in Savannah Georgia. As for ups that was about it. The downs were more like little black clouds that hovered overhead. The worst was getting Sciatica at the end of November and I'm still having some pretty bad moments with it.
Moving on to 2019 plans. I've chosen my word of the year after a lot of introspection. I'm going with EMBRACE. The meaning is to take or receive gladly or eagerly, accept willingly.
My plan is to take what comes my way the good and the bad and find a way to see something positive in it. I'm going to do more of the things I like and try to find more of them. I refuse to dwell on negative things this year, by reminding myself whatever it is will pass. Hopefully I'll be stronger for it.
This leads me to my phrase of the year. Get out of my own way! I'm going to look at obstacles as mini challenges and reward myself for getting past them. I'm going to forge ahead with new healthier habits. I know one of the hardest things will be avoiding distractions.
I'll be putting all of my goals and plans, business and personal, into quarterly brackets. From there I will be breaking them down actionable steps that will keep me moving in the right direction. It won’t be easy, but there are times when you need to push yourself and I find myself in one of those moments right now. So I'll need to really focus over the next few weeks, and months to accomplish my goals for the first quarter.
Here's hoping that you all reach your goals or resolutions in the New Year.
