Weekly Wrap-Up

This post will be made in 2 sections.
Writing:

1) I worked on the chapter points for the next 2 books refining them.
2) I researched 2 publishers I'm considering submitting to. Now this is both a pro and a con. Putting the books out on my own gives me complete control, but takes a lot of time. Having them with a publisher will give me more time to just write. Either way I know I will still need to promote a lot. So not sure what's going to happen here.
3) started cleaning my office. I WILL finish it this weekend, because NaNoWriMo starts on November 1st and I want it done before that.

Real Life: Winter on it's way, so this week has been kind of a mess. There's a lot to do.
1) It snowed!
2) I packed away all the summer clothes. Well mine, since hubby will wear his shorts all year round.

3) Someone spotted a flea on my nephew's dog. So because of this and the fact that that I believe fleas travel in packs, so bought all 6 cats flea collars and drops for the dog.
4) Washed all my bedding. Pulled out the extra blankets washed them and added to all the beds.
5) Hubby decided it was time to turn heat on in both sides of the house just to make sure it all fires up. He cleaned the pellet stove a few weeks ago and has had that running on a few of the chilly mornings.
6) Hubby's still working on moving the laundry room from the first floor to the second floor. It's going to make my life so much easier. Laundry for 9 people is never ending.

Distractions! Your Friend Or Just A Pain In The Ass?

Most people can probably answer this question easily. Me... not so much. It's true that as a writer when I'm really in the groove the smallest distraction can seem so major. But sometimes having to get up and move gives me a chance to remember that I may have forgotten to eat. And you know those days when you're running from dawn to dusk to get things done? Well in that hectic frenzy your not focusing on your current work-in-progress or whatever the next title you're thinking about starting. You might not realize it, but this is probably going to be just what you need. In that time your brain may be storing things that you're not even thinking could be important. Then when you start plotting, or writing BAM! some little thing will pop up and suddenly your like Hell Yeah!. So while at the time that phone call reminding you to go get the mail, your niece telling you one of the cats climbed into the hole your husband made in the wall, or even just when your nephew's dog whines to go pee (Chihuahua have tiny bladders) just remember that might be the moment when something totally unexpected and fabulous might park you imagination.

What's that mantra about do something for 30 days straight and it'll become a habit? However it goes I"m giving it a go. So if you follow me on social hopefully you'll e seeing more from me. Here too if I can think of enough to say. Honestly the things I want to say aren't suitable for public consumption. I'm not kidding. I'm getting a little frustrate with a few things and need to work my way to a solution that doesn't involve me killing someone. Maybe I can write  story where I kill them all off. Sounds like definite possibility.

In book 6 of my Brazen Sister Series, To Protect The Heart Of a Brazen Woman, I almost killed someone. Why didn't I? Because she was the main character and the hero needed to rescue her or lose his heart forever. For now I'll just start making a list of everyone who needs to go!

Changes And Stuff Just Happens

9/23/2016

It's been a while since I wrote anything here. Actually it has been slow writing in all around, but thankfully that's starting to change. At least I had legitimate excuses for how craptastic my productivity has been. It started in March when we decided to buy a new house. Along with decision came all the paperwork and appointments that go along with it. The in the end of May came the move. We had all the stuff from our house in Maine (we sold that one in December) and from our apartment here in Massachusetts.

So by the middle of July we were just starting to feel like we were making some headway in settling in. Then came vacation and Authors After Dark. Trust me those were 10 days desperately welcomed from all the chaos that had become my life. We got back and it wasn't long before my sister and her 5 kids joined us in the new house until she finds and apartment. We have the room, but merging families and the way we all do things hasn't been easy.

If that wasn't enough life decided we all needed another challenge and my dad was diagnosed with late stage lung cancer. Just writing that here puts a more permanent stamp on it. It's really hard to focus on writing when life keep throwing more distraction at you. Somehow I've worked myself back into a writing groove. As Rachel Hollis (if you don't know who she is check her out, she makes me laugh) said recently "no one is going care about your dream as much as you do".  She's right and that means if I need to take the time to focus on me and what I need to do then that's what I'm going to do.

Part of that is going to happen here. I watched a video on YouTube this morning that made me laugh. Mind Sweep by How to Get Your Shit Together. My crazy self has decided that this might be a place for stuff like that.
Another big part that I already put in effect was using my planner more effectively and actually sitting at my desk to work instead of in front of the TV.

To wrap it up I'm going to push myself and find positive ways to stay focused and churning out the words. Wish me luck!

    Author

I'm a contemporary romance and romantic comedy author. My stories vary in heat levels from sweet to sizzling, but hopefully they all have a hint of humor. If you enjoy family and friend based series then you've found the right author.
