Weekly Wrap-Up

This post will be made in 2 sections.
Writing:

1) I worked on the chapter points for the next 2 books refining them.
2) I researched 2 publishers I'm considering submitting to. Now this is both a pro and a con. Putting the books out on my own gives me complete control, but takes a lot of time. Having them with a publisher will give me more time to just write. Either way I know I will still need to promote a lot. So not sure what's going to happen here.
3) started cleaning my office. I WILL finish it this weekend, because NaNoWriMo starts on November 1st and I want it done before that.

Real Life: Winter on it's way, so this week has been kind of a mess. There's a lot to do.
1) It snowed!
2) I packed away all the summer clothes. Well mine, since hubby will wear his shorts all year round.

3) Someone spotted a flea on my nephew's dog. So because of this and the fact that that I believe fleas travel in packs, so bought all 6 cats flea collars and drops for the dog.
4) Washed all my bedding. Pulled out the extra blankets washed them and added to all the beds.
5) Hubby decided it was time to turn heat on in both sides of the house just to make sure it all fires up. He cleaned the pellet stove a few weeks ago and has had that running on a few of the chilly mornings.
6) Hubby's still working on moving the laundry room from the first floor to the second floor. It's going to make my life so much easier. Laundry for 9 people is never ending.

My Pre-Writing  Process Step 1 Ideas/Titles

10/17/2016

I'm going to start this out by saying I don't think there is any right way to prep or plan when you are writing a book. Everyone has to find a process that they are comfortable with, and this is mine.

My pre-writing process has about 6 steps. The 1st step for me is coming up with Idea, or sometimes a Title to work off of.

These ideas can come from anywhere. Sometime I'll be watching TV or listening to the radio when an idea strikes. Wherever I think of something I try to write it down. Then it get's added to the white board of hope. This is where I make list ideas for books, promotional stuff, and anything else I'm hoping to get done or considering doing. Seeing it there gives it some time to take more shape. If after toying with it for a while I decide if its still an interesting idea to me. Sometimes this process can be wiped out by an idea I just can't let go of, which moves it to the top of  the list. Then it moves to title time.

I've found that I write better with a title in mind. Again this might not be everyone's preference, but it helps me get a clearer picture in my head. So no matter the idea I try to come up with something. The working title doesn't always end up the same at the end, but it's usually pretty close.

Are you with me so far? Once this is all in place then I'll move on to the next step in my process.

Distractions! Your Friend Or Just A Pain In The Ass?

9/27/2016

Most people can probably answer this question easily. Me... not so much. It's true that as a writer when I'm really in the groove the smallest distraction can seem so major. But sometimes having to get up and move gives me a chance to remember that I may have forgotten to eat. And you know those days when you're running from dawn to dusk to get things done? Well in that hectic frenzy your not focusing on your current work-in-progress or whatever the next title you're thinking about starting. You might not realize it, but this is probably going to be just what you need. In that time your brain may be storing things that you're not even thinking could be important. Then when you start plotting, or writing BAM! some little thing will pop up and suddenly your like Hell Yeah!. So while at the time that phone call reminding you to go get the mail, your niece telling you one of the cats climbed into the hole your husband made in the wall, or even just when your nephew's dog whines to go pee (Chihuahua have tiny bladders) just remember that might be the moment when something totally unexpected and fabulous might park you imagination.

Weekly Wrap Up

9/25/2016

It's weekly wrap up time. So what has been happening with me this week? A lot actually.

Book 6 of the Heiresses In Aprons series was released on Monday. It took me longer than I wanted to get this book out with all the stuff we had going on here. Oh and the 1st Heiress Box Set is on sale! It's $.99 for a limited time. I spent some time setting up promo ads and stuff.

Getting into the writing groove I've been doing what I can to clear as much off my plate as possible. Biggest thing this week was meeting my doctor. She was great. I'm back on my medication and plan to add eating well and more exercise to my schedule to get healthier. Also started re-organizing my desk and office.

On deck for next week:
I'd like to say not much, but that would be a lie. I'm going to be focusing mainly on writing this week. I'll also be dealing with my sister and hopefully gaining some ground on that front.

Wish me luck!

You Have A Planner...Why?

9/24/2016

I'll start this post by saying I've always had a planner. Now that doesn't mean I was ahead of this crazy fabulous planner trend. My planner use was mainly to keep track of meetings and appointments for my kids, and my hubby's work schedule. Once I start submitting my work to publishers I would list that in there too.

That all changed in December of 2014. My daughter bought me a Passion Planner for Christmas. Starting in January 2015 I started adding my to do list items and my daily word count, and any promo stuff to my appointments. Now I didn't get nuts with stickers and stuff in 2015, but I did start using my stash of sticky notes and flags to mark really important things. About halfway through the year I realized things were getting over looked so I started color coding my items. I've always loved sticky notes, pens, and notebooks (probably the writer trying to assert herself) so I was stocked and able to make the switch damn quick.

In 2016 I found the joy of stickers. Yay! I don't use them like I have seen so many others doing. I don't go crazy and decorate each month or week. What I do is use them to sparingly to keep myself motivated. And sometimes just to make me smile. A few members of my family, well my sister Dorene, think I'm insane. I'm going to convert her I swear. It's one of my yearly goals. Oh yeah, I've also been keeping track of my goals too.

will admit, as I have said before, this year has hit some major snags. But that is mostly, hopefully, behind me. I've start really detailing my schedule for the next few months. And I'm building a planner for myself for 2017. I decided I needed a planner that allowed me to be more flexible or strict as needed. I also wanted monthly, quarterly and yearly review options. I guess we'll see how this goes and maybe I'll post a bunch of stuff as I find my way.

I'm a contemporary romance and romantic comedy author. My stories vary in heat levels from sweet to sizzling, but hopefully they all have a hint of humor. If you enjoy family and friend based series then you've found the right author.
